Solnet strives to reduce our environmental footprint.
To optimise the use of power:
- Lights are turned off in rooms that are not being used
- We use low power / low heat LCD flat screens and laptops extensively
- Our server environments are almost exclusively virtual, greatly reducing the power and cooling needs of the server environment.
To reduce travel:
- We are local, with offices in the main centres, and we use domestic and international air travel sparingly
- We use internet, telephony and video tools extensively, including video conferencing facilities between our main offices.
Other initiatives:
- We encourage staff to cycle to work - we provide secure storage for staff bicycles
- Our offices have recycling bins for bottles, cans and plastic
- Confidential waste paper is recycled
- We encourage duplex and two-up printing
- We avoid wasteful practices such as sending christmas cards
- Corporate and staff gifts, designed to avoid waste and promote healthy lifestyles, include as First Aid kits, Hi Vis' vests, drink bottles, emergency kits and native plants.
